Picton WRP – Sustainable High Energy Efficient Aerostrip® Diffusers
In 2018 Picton Water Recycling Plant (WRP) was upgraded from 2.7 MLD to treat 4 MLD of wastewater. The upgrades were a key requirement to be able to service future projected growth. A new trade waste connection was also required to facilitate Ingham’s new Turkey Processing Facility. The upgrades also included the transfer of wastewater flow from Buxton and Bargo.
Picton Water Recycling Plant is owned and operated by Sydney Water.
The scope of works involved design, supply, installation, testing and the commissioning of two new intermittently decanted aerated lagoons (IDALs). Hydroflux Epco was proudly selected to supply over 100 AEROSTRIP® fine bubble diffusers for two IDALs. Achieving SOTE up 5.75%/m at peak SOTR.
The Outcome
- 12 year life due to proprietary polyurethane membrane low energy demand, reduced power cost and hyence carbon footprint.
- High oxygen transfer efficiency due to the tiny 1mm bubbles
- Micro perforations generate the bubbles, not slits
- Unique perforation profile self cleans as it opens and closes
- Simple installation
- Each diffuser undergoes FAT prior to despatch
