Compact Free Standing Lime Saturator for Landers Shute WTP
The Landers Shute Water Treatment Plant (WTP), operated by SEQ Water, has recently been upgraded by Stirloch Constructions to include a new pre- and post-lime dosing system. A Hydroflux Epco Lime Saturator was installed as part of this project.
The Hydroflux Epco Lime Saturator produces saturated lime water to control the pH and alkalinity of water in the WTP. The unit includes a saturator-clarifier tank with weirs, a hopper, and a sludge rake, along with an inlet and outlet, lime recirculation and slurry dosing systems, and spent lime solids sludge disposal. Sampling points are also provided.
The sludge rake moves lime solids along the bottom of the tank using ten GR316 stainless steel blades with neoprene squeegees. These blades are angled to push the sludge to the center of the tank, where it can be recirculated or removed.
Inside the saturator’s central baffle wall, treated feed water is mixed. The treated water and lime slurry enter the baffle from a recirculation line that also carries unused lime from the bottom of the sludge hopper.
Designed and fabricated in Australia, the Hydroflux Epco Lime Saturator enabled quick turnaround times and provided technical and site installation support. This upgrade improves the treatment plant’s ability to manage water quality, ensuring a reliable supply of safe drinking water.
