New Make Over for Oxley Creek STP’s 8 X Secondary Clarifiers
In 2014 the Oxley Creek STP operated by Qld Urban Utilities underwent a major rehabilitation upgrade that was delivered by Monadelphous.
Overview
EPCO Australia were engaged to upgrade the 8 x secondary clarifiers at the site.
The upgrade included:
- Four new bridges
- Four refurbished bridges
- Eight VeeMax® log spiral scraper systems
- Eight new centre columns
- New bridge drive arrangements
- New wheel mechanisms
- EdiGate® Stainless Steel EDI’s
- CoverSweep® Aluminium launder covers
- New scum removal systems
- Adjustable peripheral V notch weirs
- Sixteen new scum boxes
- Fall arrestor safety lines on all eight clarifiers
In operation since in the 1970’s, the original clarifiers were removed and whilst some parts were retained, the new internal equipment provided by EPCO Australia was designed to suit the geometry of the existing clarifier tanks.
The upgrade works by EPCO Australia will result in an increased asset life of the secondary treatment clarification system. As with most of EPCO Australia’s municipal clarifiers, the internals in contact with water are manufactured from stainless steel.
Each clarifier was also provided with fall arrestor safety lines. To protect the launder channel from algae growth, EPCO Launder Covers, fabricated from 316SS were installed in each clarifier.
