Townsville City Council, Saving Energy with Aerostrip® Diffusers Since 2011
The Mount St John STP is operated by Townsville City Council and provides treatment to 106,000 people with a peak capacity of 25 MLD.
AEROSTRIP® Fine Bubble Diffusers were installed at Mount St John STP as part of a major upgrade in 2010 to increase capacity, improve the effluent quality and protect the Bohle River which flows into the Great Barrier Reef.
AEROSTRIP® Diffusers were selected at the time due to their excellent track record in European and US installations, for both longevity and energy efficiency.
Hydroflux recently assisted with the first CIP (chemical in place) clean of the diffusers, which restores their flux rates to as new conditions.
The Outcome
AEROSTRIP® Fine Bubble Diffusers were supplied to Liquitech (QLD) as part of the upgrade which also included 3 Huber Wash Presses, 3 x 42m LogMax® secondary clarifiers and 1 x 16m VeeMax® Lime Clarifier.
The AEROSTRIP® Diffusers are installed within the outer pass of 2 oxidation ditches. There are 10 grids per ditch with 16 AEROSTRIP® Diffusers per grid.
